WILLEMSTAD - Member of Parliament for the opposition party PAR Ana Maria Pauletta draws attention to the situation of eye patients in Curaçao. Pauletta raised the point on Monday with Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Dorothy Pietersz-Janga.
According to Pauletta, the situation for eye patients is urgent at the moment, because the waiting lists for surgeries at the Curaçao Medical Center are enormous. The PAR MP hopes that the possibility can be looked into to bring more optometrists to Curaçao to reduce the waiting lists.
Given the current shortages in eye care, many Curaçao patients travel to Colombia to have their surgeries performed there.
