Mambo Beach regrets violent incident due to insufficient security measures

Local | By Correspondent June 5, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - The management team at Mambo Beach Boulevard indicated last night in a press release that "a violent incident occurred during an event on Mambo Beach last Thursday."

The images have spread through social media and the incident has led to a communiqué by the American Consulate to avoid Mambo, according to the management of Mambo Beach Boulevard.

Mambo says they deeply regret the incident. According to them, the security measures taken for the event were "unfortunately insufficient to prevent the incident".

According to the press release from Mambo Beach Boulevard, the number of incidents in recent years has been limited. That remark is directly opposed to the appeal of the United States consulate. Yesterday the U.S. Consulate made an appeal to Americans in Curaçao to avoid Mambo Beach at certain times due to a growing number of incidents there.

In a security alert, they warn not to visit the place or attend major events after 9 a.m. It is also advised not to leave valuables in cars. According to the consulate, more and more tourists and Americans are victims of robberies or violence during a visit to Mambo.
