MAN happy and relieved with OHO

Local | By Correspondent October 9, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - The Entity for Reform and Development (OHO) has the approval of political party MAN. A resolution was unanimously passed by the party council instructs the ministers to agree with the OHO. The party council also agrees with the changes made to the OHO.

Economic Development Minister and MAN leader Steven Martina said at a press conference this week that he was relieved by the proposal stating that the OHO has no legislative or administrative powers. The autonomy of Curaçao therefore remains intact, according to Martina.

The blue party has previously spoken out strongly against the Caribbean Reform Entity (CHE), as the proposal was previously called. According to MAN, the socio-economic development was neglected in this. More attention is paid to this in the OHO.

The objectives of the country packages are included in an implementation and investment agenda. The country packages contain the reforms that must be implemented. In order to realize the implementation and investment agenda, an appeal is then made to the OHO for funding.

Undersecretary Raymond Knops announced earlier this week that there is still no agreement between the Netherlands and Curaçao on new loans. According to the undersecretary, there are "hopeful signals", but "the negotiations are still ongoing". In early July, the Netherlands imposed conditions on Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten for a new, third 'corona loan'.
