WILLEMSTAD - The illegal houses at Sabana Baka must be demolished. That is according to the Member of Parliament for the coalition party MAN Eugene Cleopa. The area recently came in the news because it is said to have been sold, while it is government property. Who sold the site is unknown but will be investigated.
Minister Zita Jesus-Leito of Infrastructure announced measures, but until now it is unknown what will happen to the illegal houses.
Cleopa believes that the 2016 policy must be continued. The government then started placing signs on sites where construction is illegal. The Ministry of Infrastructure launched a major offensive against the proliferation of unlicensed buildings on government-owned land. Whether that is still the case remains a question mark.
In any case, Cleopa believes that all these illegal constructions should disappear. He does not want to talk about an interim solution.
