Local | By Correspondent September 21, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Last weekend there was a lot of commotion in Curaçao about an incident involving members of the Curaçao Volunteer Corps, VKC. Videos on social media show a member of the VKC stepping on the face of a man who was handcuffed on the street near Fuik. The man, Curtley Kook, refused to hand over his driver's license and car papers to a member of the VKC when asked to do so. He then drove off and after a wild chase was finally stopped and handcuffed on the street.

According to Kook, he was beaten and kicked several times by various members of the VKC and not all assaults were recorded on video. He was released this weekend. Kook has indicated that he will file a complaint against the VKC.
