WILLEMSTAD - Lon Mutueel, one of the leaders of yesterday's demonstration, was arrested by the police on Wednesday evening.
Mutueel last year was one of the organizers in the protests against the closure of the vocational school Feffik. Last week he blocked the Juliana Bridge with some fellow protesters.
Yesterday he led the manifestation to Fort Amsterdam and was invited by Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath for an interview, which he refused. According to Mutueel, Rhuggenaath had to speak to the protestors on the government square in Fort Amsterdam.
There is a group now in front of the police headquarters in Rio Canario demanding Mutueel's release. They are threatening with more action if he is not released immediately.
