WILLEMSTAD - Many Curaçao teachers have left for the Netherlands or Bonaire. This is according to the Director of the Protestant Christian Education Association (VPCO), Maghalie van der Bunt-George.
All open vacancies within the VPCO have now been filled, but it is a difficult task every year, says Van der Bunt-George. Many teachers retire, stop working in education or move to the Netherlands or Bonaire, where they receive a better salary and better working conditions for the same work.
This year, the VPCO started a collaboration with students from the Dutch school of education Lerarenopleiding Funderend Onderwijs (LOFO) to fill the vacancies.
