WILLEMSTAD - Dr. Steven Martina has not yet been nominated as candidate minister for his MAN party. The case against Martina was dismissed last week by the Public Prosecution Service (OM).
Martina is still suspected by the OM of a criminal offense, but he just expects to get through the screening, since he already came out positive a few times before.
According to the OM, Martina took part in decision-making on the draft national ordinance that would change the rate for compulsory third-party insurance. Because Martina also owned shares in insurance company Guardian at the time, he had a business interest in the decision to be made.
According to the OM, a criminal offense has been committed. Nevertheless, the OM decided to close the case to leave room for the debate in politics.
Martina says he wants to be a minister again and now he is waiting to see if his party will nominate him once more. He is not worried about the screening.
