WILLEMSTAD - According to Minister of Economic Development Steven Martina, the so-called NOW scheme is very important for Curaçao. The scheme allows companies to receive financial support in the corona crisis.
In June, 938 companies asked for support. That concerns about 12,500 employees. In total, 26.5 million guilders was spent in June. Curaçao receives money from the Netherlands for the NOW scheme. Martina wants the scheme to continue in June, August, and September.
Curaçao has asked the Netherlands that Curaçao companies can also register for a one-off scheme for the fixed expenses allowance for companies.
According to Martina, after more than three months of corona crisis, Curaçao companies have reached the bottom of the reserves for many of them. The scheme offers a one-off contribution to supplement the reserves.
