WILLEMSTAD - Mauritsz de Kort was officially installed on 25 May 2022 as the new president of the Common Court of Justice of the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. His appointment had already started formally as of January 1.
The installation took place in a specially furnished room of the Renaissance Hotel, in the presence of the entire court and many guests, including the governors of Curaçao and Aruba, the Prime Minister of Curaçao, the Presidents of Parliaments of Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten and the representative of the Netherlands. In addition, the Presidents of the Supreme Court, the Board of Business and the Central Appeals Tribunal, the President of the Administrative Jurisdiction of the Council of State and the Dutch court in the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.

Extremely cordial words were spoken by the former President of the Court, Eunice Saleh, the Attorney General of Aruba, Bote Ter Stege, the Attorney General of Curaçao, Sint Maarten and Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius, Ton Maan, as well as the Dean of The Bar Association of Aruba, Dirk Ormel.
In the speeches, the interdependence of Mr. de Kort with the islands of the Caribbean part of the Kingdom and with the Netherlands was outlined in various ways. In his concluding speech, the new court president thanked, among other things, for the many beautiful words and unfolded his vision of the role and tasks of the Court and the importance of case law.
