WILLEMSTAD - Mauritsz de Kort was sworn in on Tuesday as president of the Joint Court of Justice of Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Maarten and Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba.
De Kort took the oath in the presence of Governor of Curaçao, Lucille George-Wout and the Minister of Justice, Gilmar Pisas. On September 23, the majority of the Court voted in favor of the appointment of De Kort.
He succeeds Eunice Saleh as president of the court. Saleh announced in early 2021 that she did not want to be considered for an extension of her term. Before his appointment, De Kort was vice president of the court.
