Mc William wants to distinguish between COVID-19 infections

Local | By Correspondent December 12, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Member of Parliament for the coalition party MAN, Giselle Mc William wants the government, just as is already the case on the neighboring island of Aruba, to make a distinction between corona cases among residents of Curaçao and corona cases among visitors to the island.

According to the MP, this distinction must be made in the daily reporting of the number of Corona cases. This is due to the growing number of Covid infections and the fierce differences of opinion about this.

According to Mc William, this distinction will end the discussion in the community and the confusion that has arisen. At the same time, it also clarifies how reliable the PCR test really is; As is known, Dutch tourists are only allowed to visit the island if they can provide a negative result of a PCR test.

The Member of Parliament says that she regrets that part of the population does not fully understand the situation. And another part takes the opportunity to point out the tourists as the cause of the spread of Covid-19 in Curaçao, without this being based on factual data.

In addition to more peace in the tent, Mc William thinks that the more specific data can also be used as a benchmark by the government in future policy decisions.
