MCB warns against scams

Local | By Correspondent April 16, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - Maduro & Curiel's Bank issued a warning yesterday. Many people on Curaçao received an email on Thursday stating that the recipient's code has expired for internet banking.

It is also stated that people can reactivate their code via email. MCB warns everyone in Curaçao not to fall for this. The mail comes from an email address that contains mcb.online. The bank states that it never sends codes or other personal information by email.

MCB can only ask for personal information by telephone to ensure that the correct person is on the other end of the line. But customers should never reveal their password, pin code or other personal codes to strangers, according to MCB.

Next week MCB is organizing a free webinar about security and internet banking to better inform its clients about the possible dangers on the internet.
