WILLEMSTAD - CURA DOET held the 8th edition of Curaçao’s biggest volunteering event, and Arcos Dorados employees—McDonald’s world’s biggest franchisee and the largest chain restaurant in Latin America and the Caribbean—did not miss it. The company brought together a group of its employees and participated to help as volunteers during the event.
Ten McDonald’s crew members volunteered to participate on Friday, July 30th, and provided help to Funditut on two different projects. The interest from Arcos Dorados’ employees was outstanding, they responded quickly to the opportunity to give a hand to their community.

The organization chosen by McDonald’s was Funditut because it focuses on enhancing the skills of young Yu di Kòrsou to succeed in finding jobs and gaining access to better economic opportunities. In fact, Funditut is one of the non-profits that Arcos Dorados has been supporting during its annual Great Day fundraiser; where the company donates all funds of every Big Mac sold on that day, to non-profit organizations working in creating better opportunities for Caribbean’s and Latin America’s youth.
Funditut is a supporting foundation of the Stichting Jeugdcentrale Curaçao, with the aim of supporting young people in finding and keeping work. They offer customized and practical-oriented, one-on-one, learning activities to the youngsters, to develop their talents and competencies. At the end of the trajectory, they will acquire the necessary tools to lead to sustainable employment opportunities. The team who participated in Funditut’s project did a great job painting the offices and workspaces while at the same time getting to know the organization on a more personal level.
“At Arcos Dorados we’re committed to eliminating roadblocks to access job opportunities for 2million Latin-American and Caribbean young people; and benefit 400 thousand more, through NGOs like Funditut, with training to obtain skills that will help them to find jobs” said Arcos Dorados’ spokesperson in Curaçao.
Arcos Dorados is happy to have contributed, through its volunteers, to CURA DOET 2021. As a longtime member of the Curaçao community, the company is eager to expand its social and environmental initiatives summarized in its “Recipe for the Future” strategy.
