WILLEMSTAD - There is unrest at the Damen shipyard. Yesterday the staff went on strike. The reason is the deduction of 25 percent from the salary.
According to Damen, because the shipyard has not received any money under the NOW scheme. The employees just want to be paid in full. A mediator must now smooth the case between the two parties.
The workers returned to work yesterday afternoon pending further talks today. If that fails, Damen may go to court to prevent a strike.
