WILLEMSTAD - The Social Insurance Bank (SVB) announced that the medical costs for the basic insurance increased last year to more than 3,500 guilders per insured person. The total number of insured is almost 150,000.
They paid around 285 million in premiums. The SVB spent nearly 530 million guilders. The government therefore adds another 250 million each year.
The increase in expenditure is mainly due to increased costs in the care institution and the general hospital.
