WILLEMSTAD - As part of the improvement of our education system, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport, Mr. Sithree van Heydoorn (ESKD), met with Secretary of State, Mrs. Alexandra van Huffelen. During the meeting, the minister presented two important trajectories of the ESKD ministry to the Secretary of State.
The first presentation was about the "Education Improvement Plan," which is still in the concept phase. The presentation highlighted the different trajectories currently in place. In May, several working sessions were held with school boards to enhance communication between the ministry and school directors. In June, Theory of Change sessions were conducted, with the participation of various stakeholders who are connected to or involved in education. These sessions were led by Mr. Sam Boering and Mr. Iwan Zunder. This week, a Theory of Change session will be held with a group of students to allow them to voice their opinions. The Secretary of State was informed that soon there will be discussions with different education partners regarding the Education Improvement Plan in the concept phase, to gather their input and reach a definitive plan. Subsequently, a Road Map will be developed for the implementation of the Education Improvement Plan.
The second presentation was related to the trajectory of education digitalization. Phase I of the digitalization project is reaching its final stage, and preparations for Phase II have begun. The minister not only presented the plan and what will happen in Phase II but also showcased a dashboard where the ESKD ministry can view and analyze various information regarding schools, students, and teachers. A dashboard is an application that illustrates important information from different data sources, providing a comprehensive overview of the compiled information in various forms. This allows for analysis and reporting to make management decisions based on data. Secretary of State Mrs. A. van Huffelen was impressed with all the work that has been carried out by the ESKD ministry, even after the final report of the "Baseline Measurement" was presented.
