WILLEMSTAD - A member of the surgery room of the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) tested positive for COVID-19 last Friday and is in isolation. The board of CMC has immediately implemented the measures - in accordance with the protocol - to minimize the risk to staff and patients. The CMC Outbreak Management Team (OMT), in collaboration with ARBO, performed "contact tracing" and contacted all patients and staff members who had been in direct contact with the surgery room member during the last days. The infected person was always wearing protective equipment when patients were being treated. As such, there was no risk of contamination.
All staff members on the contact list were immediately quarantined, except for those with an essential function. A person can be under strict protection rules according to the COVID-19 protocol. The surgery room is disinfected every day according to protocol and all planned operations will continue.
Meanwhile, all individuals on the specialist's contact list who previously tested positive for COVID19 have tested negative and show no symptoms.
