Local | By Correspondent June 21, 2023

THE HAGUE - On July 1st, members of the Rutte cabinet will participate in solemn commemorations across the Kingdom and Suriname, honoring the history of slavery.

Minister Ernst Kuipers will embark on a journey to Curaçao, while State Secretary Van der Burg will visit Aruba. Minister Hugo de Jonge's destination will be Bonaire. However, it seems that not all government officials were equally enthusiastic about attending, as State Secretary Van Huffelen will divide her presence among Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius, and Saba. Minister Hoekstra, on the other hand, will take charge of the commemoration in Suriname.

Among the notable figures attending the Amsterdam commemoration will be King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, alongside Prime Minister Rutte. Ministers Kaag, Bruins Slot, Dijkgraaf, and Weerwind will also be present to pay their respects. Furthermore, several government officials will attend commemorations held in various locations throughout the country.
