WILLEMSTAD - It was decided that the staff of the Mental Health Foundation (GGz) will receive their salary. Henk Kamsteeg announced this today.
The employees of the Capriles Clinic went on strike yesterday. They had not received their salary which was supposed to be paid out last Thursday. The tax authorities placed a lien on the budget of the health care foundations. These are funds that the foundation was waiting to receive from the Social Insurance Bank (SVB). Consequently, liquidity was insufficient to meet salary obligations. The government also has debts to the GGz. This is about 21 million guilders.
The staff will receive their salary next Wednesday. The employees will be paid for the month of October. A solution is still being looked into for the other months.
