PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:
When engaged in outdoor work or activities, drink plenty of water and avoid overexertion;
If not feeling well, take rest in the shade or a cooler place as soon as possible.
DEFINITIONS:
A Special Bulletin is issued for weather events that are unusual, cause general inconvenience or public concern (requiring the attention and action of fire department and police authorities) and cannot adequately be described in a regular weather forecast.
A Cautionary Statement for Excessive Heat is an announcement that indicates the possibility of an above normal heat index to occur (probability of 10 to 30%) within the next 8 to 24 hours.
