WILLEMSTAD – The Metro Leadership Sports Academy from Atlanta visited Curaçao from January 16 to 19 for a cultural exchange program centered on baseball games against local youth teams.
The delegation, consisting of 32 players and eight coaches, was officially welcomed during a dinner hosted by Consul General Chico Negron. In his remarks, Negron highlighted the role of sports in fostering cultural understanding and strengthening ties between the United States and Curaçao.

According to the consul general, the visit underscores how baseball can serve as a bridge between communities while also inspiring young athletes to develop leadership skills both on and off the field. The program combined competitive games with cultural activities, giving the visiting players the opportunity to learn more about Curaçaoan culture and connect with their local counterparts.
The exchange is seen as another example of how sports diplomacy can contribute to lasting relationships between Curaçao and international partners, while offering young athletes valuable experiences beyond the game itself.
