WILLEMSTAD - Dutch Senate member Jeroen Recourt said during a meeting in the Senate this week that the Netherlands must keep strict control over the government finances of Curaçao. This is because the MFK party is coming back to power.
According to Recourt, they were responsible for financial mismanagement between 2010 and 2012. Chairman of the MFK Sithree van Heydoorn calls this comment "false".
"The Schotte government left behind the same government reserves as there were at the beginning of the government. The governments since then have gone into much more debt and now there are no more reserves at all," said Van Heydoorn.
He thinks it is a shame that some Dutch politicians already place the new government of MFK and PNP in a negative light already.
