WILLEMSTAD - Finance Minister Javier Silvania aims to lower fuel rates by mid-May. He announced this during his presentation in Parliament last week Thursday.
As is well known, the government wants to lower the excise tax on petrol. The sales tax on fuel prices will also be adjusted. This discount saves almost a quarter per liter at the gas station. Gasoline and diesel are expected to become even more expensive in the coming months.
Because of the many Parliamentary questions, the minister has asked for a week to be able to answer everything. For that reason, the parliamentary meeting has been suspended. Parliament will shortly consider the national ordinance that makes the cut possible.
