WILLEMSTAD – Military personnel assisted a stranded Canadian tourist on Tuesday after he became injured during a hike on the Christoffelberg. The man had fallen while walking and was unable to descend the mountain on his own.

The soldiers were already present on the Christoffelberg as part of a training exercise and were able to respond immediately. Together with park rangers from Christoffelpark, they organized a rescue operation.

The tourist was transported down the mountain on a stretcher, a process that took more than two hours due to the difficult terrain. After reaching the base of the mountain, he was taken to hospital for further medical treatment.

Authorities have not released further details about the condition of the tourist but confirmed that the rescue operation was carried out safely and without complications.
