Minister Cooper visits the former Curaçao house

Local | By Correspondent March 29, 2022

THE HAGUE - The Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning, Charles Cooper, is in the Netherlands for a working visit. The minister took the opportunity on Monday to visit the buildings of the former Curaçao house.

Cooper did this in the presence of Minister Plenipotentiary Carlson Manuel. The buildings Badhuisweg, Wagenaarsweg and Prinsengracht in The Hague are owned by the Country of Curaçao and as such fall under Cooper’s responsibility.

The three buildings on Badhuisweg and Wagenaarsweg have been put up for sale by former Plenipotentiary Minister Marvelyne Wiels and their sale was halted during the parliamentary meeting of 26 September 2017. This resulted in a lawsuit that the country won.

The intention is that the cabinet of the Minister Plenipotentiary will return to Badhuisweg. The property on Prinsengracht is for sale. This decision was taken based on a motion adopted by parliament.

During Cooper's visit, there was also discussion about improving the functioning of the Curaçao House.
