Minister Koeiman: Private sector to finance vocational training

Local | By Correspondent May 27, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - The business community will participate in a new type of vocational training. Minister of Social Development, Labor and Welfare Hensley Koeiman, together with a tripartite steering group, went to SENA, a professional training course in Colombia, to gain knowledge about this.

The steering committee consists of government, trade unions and the business community.

In Colombia, 1.5 to 2 percent of costs in this type of training are financed by the business community. The rest is paid by the government.

According to Koeiman, the business community on Curacao is prepared to participate in this type of vocational training.

If there is a greater need for bricklayers, a training course will be started for that, or perhaps the demand for bakers is higher, then there will be a training course for that profession.
