Minister of Finance must reply to CFT questions today

Local | By Correspondent March 6, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - This afternoon at 4 o'clock, the coalition council will take place between the ministers and the parliamentarians of the parties PAR, MAN, and PIN. The subject is the financial situation and the answer to the Financial Supervision Board (CFT). At the end of last month, the CFT asked the Minister of Finance Kenneth Gijsbertha to indicate no later than March 6, how he would cut 127 million guilders on the 2019 budget.

According to the CFT, such a cutback is inescapable. The Council of Ministers already met yesterday to talk about this, but according to various sources, it is extremely difficult for Gijsbertha to cut back so much.

If this does not happen, the CFT will recommend the Kingdom Council of Ministers to intervene and impose a financial instruction on the government of Curaçao.
