WILLEMSTAD - The Minister of Public Works (VVRP) Charles Cooper is furious with the Pro Monumento (ProMo) foundation. In a message on Facebook, the minister says that the foundation does not grant jobs to Curaçaoans and calls on everyone to share his message.
ProMo recently filed an appeal with the Court of First Instance against the government and minister over the plans to construct the Majestic Hotel & Residence in the Punda area of Willemstad. The foundation says it is not against the construction of the building. However, the current plans would not comply with the Island Development Plan and jeopardize the city's status on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
