Monumentenfonds Discusses Ongoing Projects with Curaçao Governor

WILLEMSTAD – The director of Stichting Monumentenfonds Curaçao (Monument Fund), Jonathan Jukema, paid a courtesy visit to Governor Mauritsz de Kort on Friday, January 9, 2026, to discuss the foundation’s work and ongoing projects.

Jukema was accompanied by members of the Supervisory Board, including chairman Elvis Thodé, and board members Germaine Gibbs, Marguerite Britt-Hatma, Zarja Garmers, and Andries De Lannoy.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the role of the Monumentenfonds in preserving Curaçao’s cultural heritage and reviewed several projects currently underway. The discussions highlighted the importance of continued investment in the maintenance and restoration of historic buildings and sites across the island.

The visit underscored the shared commitment of the Monumentenfonds and the Governor’s office to safeguarding Curaçao’s monuments as an essential part of the island’s history, identity, and sustainable development.
