More delay in delivery time new hospital

Local | By Correspondent May 8, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - According to the senior strategic communication consultant of the new hospital (HNO), Clifton Walle, Ballast Nedam did not reach the delivery date of April 2. This means that the penalty clause will go into force.

Walle says that together with the construction company, it is now necessary to look for “creative solutions” to be able to open the Caribbean Medical Center (CMC) in the fourth quarter of this year. Wallé mentions as an example that “certain parts of the building are already accessible while there is still finishing work and testing of medical and technical equipment.”

When asked what the reason is that the delivery date was not met, HNO refers to Ballast Nedam International. HNO can use the penalty clause to recover any additional costs from the construction company but tries to keep them as low as possible or to avoid them by checking which budget items can be saved. Ballast Nedam will soon set a new delivery date.
