WILLEMSTAD - Last night, the Coast Guard's Rescue and Coordination Center (RCC) detected a suspicious radar contact at Oostpunt, east side of the island. The coast guard patrol along with the Curmillers went directly to the vessel to identify it. The police and customs were also informed. The Coast Guard helicopter was immediately dispatched to search the area.
The coast guard patrol saw a yola type vessel with 2 people on board on arrival. When they were arrested, the two men stated that they had dropped several people. After a search, the authorities found 5 women and 8 men from Venezuela, in the Sta. Barbara area. All undocumented persons have been transferred to the police.
