"More police needed to enforce animal law"

Local | By Correspondent March 24, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - Member of Parliament for the MAN faction Giselle McWilliam wants to know whether enough police officers are available to enforce the Animal Welfare Act. The bill was adopted by parliament two weeks ago.

McWilliam had introduced the bill. For some time now, she has been lobbying the Ministry of Justice to make more police officers available to the Animal Protection. But that has not happened so far. This weekend a video appeared on social media of a man who threw a dog with tied paws into the wild sea at the northern side of the island. There was a lot of commotion about this. McWilliam wants to know if there are enough police to handle such cases.
