WILLEMSTAD — More than 35,000 pensioners received the Prima di Apresio PLUS on Friday, including the retroactive difference resulting from the recent increase in the AOV pension. This was announced by Minister of Social Development, Labor and Welfare Charetti America in a post on Facebook.

In her message, the minister shared a photo of her former schoolteacher, now retired, whom she described as someone who played an important role in her life. With this personal gesture, America emphasized the importance of respect, appreciation and care for older generations. “You cannot imagine how satisfied I am to be part of this today and to see this become a reality for our elderly,” the minister stated.

The payment follows lengthy discussions between pensioners and the government regarding the AOV adjustment. Earlier, representatives of the retired community had warned of possible legal action, arguing that the pension had not been increased in accordance with the law.

According to Minister America, the recent adjustment and the payment of the Prima di Apresio PLUS mark an important step, but not the end of the process. She stressed that further measures are being prepared to continue improving the living conditions of pensioners in Curaçao.

The minister described the agreement with pensioners as a result of careful consideration and dialogue, aimed at ensuring greater financial security and recognition for those who contributed to society throughout their working lives.
