WILLEMSTAD - “We now have 250 active corona cases. If that becomes more than 400, then we are in a danger zone,” says epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth.
Gerstenbluth explains that if from those 400 cases, five percent or more must be hospitalized, will put enormous pressure on the care capacity. Especially in intensive care.
“For that reason, we still have to stick to the measures of phase 3,” the epidemiologist explained.
According to Gerstenbluth, we are not getting rid of COVID-19 for the time being. There is no solution yet in the form of, for example, a vaccination. “As long as there is no such solution, the community must learn to live with all the precautions that go with it. Only when we have a vaccination can we let go of all measures."
