THE HAGUE - The number of Venezuelans who have resorted to Curacao and Aruba appears to be considerably higher than previously assumed.

According to the latest figures from the International Organization for Migrants (IOM), 26,000 Venezuelans have come to Curacao in recent years to escape the misery in their own country. For Aruba, that number is 16,000. These figures are confirmed by the Response for Venezuelans (R4V) coordination platform.

In total, 3.4 million Venezuelans have left their country, of whom 1.1 million have gone to Colombia.
