WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao’s Parliament has unanimously approved Motion II concerning airspace safety and foreign military activity during its December 15 public session.
The voting list attached to the motion shows that the proposal was adopted with general consent, reflecting broad cross-party agreement on the importance of safeguarding civil aviation and national sovereignty.
The motion outlines Parliament’s view that aviation safety over Curaçao is a core governmental responsibility and that diplomatic considerations must not undermine public safety or the autonomy of Curaçao.
By adopting the motion, Parliament has formally instructed the government to pursue stronger international agreements, improve coordination with foreign military authorities, and keep the legislature fully informed of any future incidents involving military aircraft in Curaçao’s airspace.
