WILLEMSTAD - The Minister of Justice appoints bailiffs in Curaçao. After the death of bailiff Souman, the vacancy had to be filled.
On 12 June, Minister of Justice Quincey Girigorie appointed aspiring bailiff Mr P. Kirindongo as bailiff following the advice of the President of the Common Court of Justice on 15 April 2019.
The appointment is based on the following.
Mr. Kirindongo has been an aspiring bailiff since 2001 and as such he has the most experience in Curaçao. Mr. Kirindongo applied for this position in Curaçao in 2014.
After Mr. Souman's job became vacant, the president of the court asked bailiffs of Curaçao about their opinion and wish. In the letter of 1 March 2019 sent by the bailiffs to the Minister of Justice, they made their wish known in line with the policy in Curaçao of more than 20 years: if a position is open that must be filled by an aspiring bailiff who already has been working for a long time at a bailiff's office and therefore has experience with the work and knowledge of the local market.
The person who has worked as an aspiring bailiff for the longest time is appointed bailiff.
As such, the president of the court concludes that Mr. Kirindongo has a lot of experience with this work and in his opinion, there is nothing to prevent Mr. Kirindongo from being appointed. For this reason, the president of the court advised the Minister of Justice to appoint Mr. Kirindongo, who will soon be sworn in.
