Musicians protest: “I've been home for 7 months with no money”

Local | By Correspondent October 22, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Musicians, DJs, stage actors and other people from the cultural world held a demonstration last night on the Mambo Beach parking. The performers were dressed in black and all wore masks.

They protest against the corona measures which have kept them from working and making a living during the last six months. According to them, the cultural sector of Curaçao is bleeding to death. Later in the evening the artists took a silent tour on the boulevard of Mambo.

According to the protesters, in some places on the island, DJs are allowed to play at parties and musicians are allowed to perform. According to DJ Argenis Huerta, there are mainly strict rules for local artists, but there is plenty of partying at Mambo and there is much less control there.
