WILLEMSTAD - The National Criminal Investigation Department has been conducting an investigation into fraud with corona aid for some time now, under the direction of the Public Prosecution Service. A former employee of the Ministry of Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW) is said to have deposited the corona support, intended for SOAW clients, into his own bank account.
This morning, under the direction of the examining magistrate (RC) and in collaboration with the Curaçao Police Force (KPC), a search was made in the home of the ex-employee. In the interest of the investigation, documents and data carriers were seized, among other things.
The 32-year-old former employee has been arrested. The investigation is still in ongoing and therefore, according to the Public Prosecution Service, no further announcements can be made.
