Naval Base Parera to host open day after 10-year hiatus

Local | By Correspondent June 9, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - Naval Base Parera is set to host an open day on Saturday, marking its return to the public after a decade. The event, organized by Defense Caribbean, offers visitors the opportunity to take guided tours of the ships, witness various demonstrations, and participate in engaging activities such as a course with night vision goggles.

In addition to the Naval Base, the open day will feature the presence of security partners including the Caribbean Coast Guard, Curaçao Police Force, and Citro, who will share insights about their work and collaboration with Defense in the region. Attendees will also have the chance to view the equipment used by military personnel.

For convenience, designated parking areas will be available at the Waaigat next to The Movies Punda, the Amstel site, and the APC site. Free shuttle buses will be provided from these locations, as parking at the naval base itself is not feasible due to road safety concerns.

The open day welcomes the public on Saturday, June 10th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., providing an exciting opportunity to explore the Naval Base and learn more about its operations.
