WILLEMSTAD - There is too little ICT knowledge within the Ministry of Finance to be able to successfully carry out the Tax and Customs Administration's modernization project. That is stated in the report of the Government Accountants Bureau (SOAB) that was made public today.
The ICT project is more expensive than planned. It also takes more time and does not deliver the desired result. The modernization of the IT systems of the tax authorities has cost taxpayers almost 20 million guilders. Bearingpoint has been working on the project since 2015. Within the ministry, there are voices to stop the project. Although that would be a waste of a huge investment.
