New group of Red Berets acclimatized to Curaçao

Local | By Correspondent April 6, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - A new group of Red Berets of Defense Caribbean arrived in Curaçao last month. In their first weeks, the soldiers have mainly been busy getting to know the island and acclimatizing. The Ministry of Defense reports this on Wednesday.

The Red Berets are members of the Airmobile Brigade and support the main tasks of the Commander of the Navy in the Caribbean (CZMCARIB). They specialize in airborne operations on land, using helicopters and airplanes. Every four months a new group comes to Curaçao.

The soldiers can be recognized by the Red Beret they wear. This is an international identifying mark for airborne troops. The beret is only awarded after rigorous training has been completed.
