WILLEMSTAD - On November 26, 2021, an agreement was reached on a new mutual arrangement regarding the division of the proceeds of the patent system between the Netherlands and Curaçao.
The Governor of Curaçao, Mrs LA George-Wout, received a delegation from the Bureau Intellectual Property Curaçao (BIE) and a delegation from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate (EZK) to be informed about the new regulation and its realization. As of October 10, 2010, the mutual arrangement regarding the division of patent proceeds between the Netherlands and the Netherlands Antilles has expired. Negotiations for a new mutual settlement have been ongoing since then.
Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas has signed the regulation in his capacity as Minister of Justice. The Dutch Minister of EZK, Mr. S. Blok, congratulated those involved with the result achieved in a video message and called for the good atmosphere to be maintained when it comes to cooperation in the field of intellectual property. The delegation of the Ministry of EZK will also submit the agreed regulation to the Minister of EZK for signature. In the video message, the minister has already indicated that he is willing to ratify this result with his signature in the Netherlands.
