Local | By Correspondent June 26, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath announced a package of measures in the run-up to the meeting of the Kingdom Council of Ministers which will take place on July 5 this year.

The cuts start with the government apparatus. A voluntary dismissal of civil servants older than 60 is being considered. A redundancy package has been compiled for this purpose. It is also envisaged to merge a number of ministries and to appoint experts.

The government will also revise its subsidy policy to the various foundations. The income from the government is also taken into account. In addition to the new value-added tax of 9%, the price for a new passport is expected to rise, among other things.
