WILLEMSTAD - President of parliament Ana Maria Pauletta has scheduled a new public meeting of parliament on the agenda. On Tuesday, August 11 at 10 am, another attempt will be made to open a meeting with sufficient members of Parliament. If a majority signs up, Shaheen Elhage's credentials can be viewed. With the intention that he can be sworn in.
Three previous attempts to open the meeting have failed in the past ten days. Next Friday there will be summary proceedings filed by Elhage. He wants the court to force the opposition MPs to be present and form a quorum so that the meeting can take place.
This is necessary since the law dictates that parliament has 21 members. And currently the government only has 10 seats. With Elhage’s seat it will again have a majority.
