WILLEMSTAD - In the new Dutch television program Rauw Curaçao by BNNVARA, Curaçaoans talk about their time during the corona crisis. The recordings of Rauw Curaçao started just after the first lockdown in 2020.
Curaçao was going through an unprecedentedly severe crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Tourism came to a complete standstill and the oil refinery was also closed. In the five-part documentary series, Wensly Francisco follows different Curaçaoans who have been severely affected by the crisis. They take the presenter along in their survival story for a year.
In the first episode, Wensly walks along with baseball coach Anthony Cijntje. There is a lot of unemployment on the island which can lead to crime. The coach tries to keep his young players on the right track. The presenter also follows volunteers from the food bank.
Rauw Curacao can be seen from November 7 at BNNVARA on NPO 2.
