New sédula in the making

Local | By Correspondent July 16, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao residents will soon get a new sédula or I.D. card. This was announced by the Civil Registry or Kranshi recently. The switch to a new identity document has to do with the fact that the current sédula actually still belongs to the former Netherlands Antilles.

The new card will be fitted with a magnetic strip, which will also make it electronically readable. This will allow, among other things, to travel between the islands that were previously part of the Netherlands Antilles, according to interim director Ruthline Haddocks.
