WILLEMSTAD - Various local newspapers, including the Dutch morning newspaper Antilliaans Dagblad, are angry with the Central Bank (CBCS). The CBCS says that people have to cancel their newspaper subscriptions because of the corona crisis.
At least a color flyer suggests canceling streaming services and newspaper subscriptions to save money. They would not be necessary, according to the CBCS.
Besides the Antilliaans Dagblad, the other Dutch newspaper Amigoe and the morning Papiamento Èxtra are also protesting against the suggestion of the Central Bank.
The Amigoe wonders why the Central Bank is getting involved. The newspaper also writes that the financial institution plays with the work of all employees of the newspaper with the saving tips.
According to the Amigoe, the Central Bank should better warn the population against the various financial institutions on the island that lend money at very high interest rates. However, nothing is said about this in the brochure.
