Next week verdict in air quality lawsuit

Local | By Correspondent July 14, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The judge will rule next Wednesday in the case that Foundation Clean Air Everywhere and 41 citizens have brought against the Country of Curaçao.

The case came up on Tuesday morning. Clean Air Everywhere wants to offer standards for air quality in Curaçao with a Welfare Criteria Regulation. In this way, the foundation wants to prevent that the general limit values of sulfur dioxide and particulate matter are exceeded when the Isla refinery is started up.

The scheme that is now being proposed is not an end product according to Pauline Blom, lawyer on behalf of the government. The limit values will be included in a National Decree to be determined later.
